Solution to Ignore SCCM Duplicate Hardware Identifiers Using SCCM 1606 or prior SCCM think that’s the same device and your device don’t receive the Task Sequence.

LOM OR PASSTHROUGH MAC ADDRESS MAC

The problem is that MAC Addresses are unique identifiers of network interfaces but when reusing the same USB to Ethernet adapter for multiple deployments, your MAC Address is not unique.

  • When computers are not imported, SCCM will use their Ethernet MAC Addresses by default.
  • It’s unique to the device and SCCM uses it to recognize imported computers
  • SMBIOS is the GUID stored in the device’s BIOS or UEFI.
  • SCCM uses SMBIOS to identify computers and fallback to MAC Addresses if SMBIOS is not available.

Causeīefore heading to the solution, we’ll explain why this was a problem in previous SCCM releases : Following a UserVoice idea, it has been fixed in SCCM 1610 and it’s now easier to ignore a particular MAC Addresses from an OS deployment. This issue could also apply when trying to image Surface devices using the Docking Station. A USB adapter is needed because the devices lack a built in Ethernet port.

If DD-WRT had the same feature as this other NAT device, I would be able to eliminate the switch from my setup.Įhem, this thread is about MAC address pass through over a wireless repeater bridge.Prior to SCCM 1610, you may had an issue when trying to image multiple Surface or ultrabook devices using the same USB to Ethernet Adapter. My cable ISP allows 2 simultaneous CPE IP addresses for each cable modem, but I currently need to have modem -> switch -> two routers in order to use both IPs. I would love to see this feature in DD-WRT.

This manual is laughably bad and the NAT device in this cable modem doesn't even have UPnP enabled by default, but it apparently does something that DD-WRT doesn't do! To enable this feature, your cable operator may need to provide additional public IP addresses.Ĭertainly sounds possible to me. Specifies up to 32 computers as passthrough clients not subject to NAT, using their MAC addresses. Peacock Thread Sticky- Just read it! (Anyone using SP1 will be taken out back and shot) Has to do with the way bridging works, as I understand it. Maybe an updated release will allow it, but in the mean time, i can live with it! just more of a monitoring issue than anything else.

Is this possible? I apologize if this has been asked before - but then again, it's not critical. Everything works fine, with the exception that I want to see everyone that ultimately connects to my network via the Netgear. My secondary router is a Linksys WRT54Gv8 with DD-WRT v24-sp2 micro. It serves as my DSL modem, DHCP server and primary router. My primary router is a Netgear DGND3300 rev 1, latest firmware from Netgear, 1.1.00.32NA (192.168.1.1). I typically have 4 wired and 3 wireless clients that attach to the secondary router so I see 8 entries of the same MAC on the primary (includes the MAC of the router itself). It's never bothered me before, but was just wondering if there's a setting that will allow passthrough of client MAC addresses to the repeater/bridge? On the primary router, it has multiple connections of the MAC of the secondary router (repeater/bridge). Hey everyone, been using DD-WRT for a long time but decided to register.
